Club Leaders

Renee Sorgel , Co President
Renee was born and raised in Wisconsin, and has lived in six states since then. She spends four months out of the year at her Florida home. In her former "real life” Renee was an accountant, having worked for both small and Fortune 500 companies, and was the controller of a small company in Michigan. Renee has been the volunteer treasurer of approximately 15 non-profits. Renee also has two daughters, Alyssa and Niki. Husband Phil is a disabled retiree. Renee has been an Altrusa DFW member since 2002. Her hobbies are walking, reading, Sudoku, other puzzles and eating. She has completed a full and half marathon (walking). She is also a two-time cancer survivor (ovarian and thyroid).

Pam Jacobson, Co President and VP Fundraising
Pam Jacobson is a native Texan who returned “home” after growing up in Florida and spending her early professional career in Connecticut, California and Washington state. She received her B.S. in Accounting from Florida State University and proceeded to work in the fast-paced telecommunications industry, holding positions of increasing responsibility in finance and product management. Pam served as Vice President of Strategic and Technology Planning and President of Consumer and Small Business Markets for GTE Communications Corporation. After retiring from GTE, Pam followed her passion for supporting the youth and young adults in her community by serving as a volunteer in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, PTA officer, booster club sponsor and Phi Delta Theta Parent Association officer at the University of Oklahoma. Currently, she serves on the Think Blue Community Advisory Board for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. Pam and her husband, Greg, have been married for 33 years and have four sons and five grandsons. Her personal interests include travel, gardening and gourmet cooking.

Virginia Palmeri, Past President and Co VP Communications
Virginia began her business career began at the age of 24 with the start of her first company while attending the University of Houston. She has since gained thirty five years of broad experience in the areas of financial management, human resources, customer service, and program management. Virginia was the co-founder of The Di-Mark Group, Inc. in 1988, Inc 500’s 229th Company in 1993, and served as Program Manager in 2001 for the start-up Smart Pay program with Taylor Publishing. She was formerly CFO and Co-Owner of Direct Solutions International, Inc. which she sold in 2012. Virginia is married with adult children and grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, gardening and traveling the US and abroad with her husband Trevor.

June Kim, VP Membership
June Kim is a Community Relations Specialist with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. She has her BA in Psychology and a MBA. June has extensive experience and knowledge in the insurance industry. She specializes in Medicare from working with seniors and from previously marketing in the home health industry and more recently from the Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County. She brings with her extensive knowledge of resources, enthusiasm and passion to educate and help seniors make best possible decisions in regards to their healthcare. June has been in the Dallas Fort Worth area for the past 20 years and very involved in her community including her churches where she has been teaching for the past 15 years. In her spare time she enjoys reading, knitting and watching Asian drama. She serves on several boards including Chair Elect for RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Programs), Board member for SIMA (Seniors in Motion Auxiliary), member of Patient Experience Committee For Medical City Lewisville, and VP of Membership for Altrusa DFW.

Michelle Griffith, VP Service
Michelle is a mother of three and lives in Southlake, TX with her husband Mark and their 11 year old daughter, Austyn. Her oldest daughter, Taylor (25) and son Zach (22) are out of nest and living close by. Michelle works with her husband in his business, Griffith Roofing. She enjoys working on a variety of service projects with Altrusa DFW, shopping, spending time with her family and wine tasting.

Sherry Hilderbrand, Secretary and Co VP Communications
Sherry graduated from Park University with a B.S. in Accounting and Business Management. She has over 30 years’ experience working in the federal government, working for the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps as well as the Department of Transportation and U.S. Postal Service Offices of Inspector Generals. Although born and raised in the DFW area, over the course of her career she has had the wonderful opportunity to also live in California, Tennessee, and Hawaii. She has two grown children and five gorgeous grandchildren. Sherry enjoys reading, walking, bible study and spending time with her family and friends.
